The art of theft
Three works of art were stolen in a pre-dawn heist at the National Art Gallery in Athens on Monday. Among the stolen masterpieces is Picasso’s Woman’s Head.
The well-organised thieves had intentionally set off alarms throughout the night, prompting guards to disable it. The heist itself took only 7 minutes.
Officials have yet to estimate the value of the stolen art. But no matter what the final price tag will be, unless the paintings are recovered, the world has lost a priceless part of its heritage.
