Kodak’s last shot?

Today, the legendary Eastman Kodak Company filed for bankruptcy protection in the US after years of failing to keep up with the digital age.

For over a century, Kodak was a pioneer in imaging. The company helped 3 generations immortalise their most precious ‘Kodak Moments’. The first photos on the moon were taken with one of its cameras. And countless Oscar-winning movies were brought to life on Kodak film.

Although Kodak pioneered research in digital imaging in the 1970s, it couldn’t keep up with its competitors today.

A sad day for photography, indeed. With 18 months of borrowed time left, will Kodak be saved in the digital era? Or will it fade away like an old memory?

In true photographic fashion, it will take time for the full (and maybe final) picture to develop.
