Justice for whom?

US Army Sergeant Robert Bales, who allegedly murdered Afghan villagers while they slept on March 11th, has been charged with 17 counts of murder.

However, Bales will be tried in a military court in the US, which has angered Afghans who believe he should be tried in Afghanistan.

The controversy grew after Bales’s lawyer stated that the prosecution has no evidence because there is no traditional crime scene, ballistics or reliable eyewitnesses.

All this has people asking, “Will justice be served?”

But sadly, few are asking, “What will be done for the victims’ families? And what will be done to protect the people?”

No matter what the judicial outcome will be, justice can only be served after the people have been.
